7 km's to the North is located Isla Juan Venado Nature Reserve. Juan Venado is 22km long and forms one of the important protected area in Nicaragua. It forms part of the country's national park system and is well-known as a vital coastal wetland region. This region is a known turtle nesting ground, bird nesting region and an nature rich region of the Nicaragua. We are working to promote tourism and protect this area in a sensible manner.
Juan Venado is part of a biological corridor which includes Isla Real (Tamarindo Beach), Las Penitas and Poneloya. The stunning 22 km Island of Juan Venado is situated 25 minutes from the Colonial city of Leon. Juan Venado is to the south of the beaches of Las Penitas and Poneloya. As such, it is easy to reach and is popular with tourists. This marvelous natural area of Isla Juan Venado Nature Reserve is well worth a visit.
Tamarindo
Beach is currently working with the Alcaldia (
Municipality of
Leon) to create a biological corridor for tourism and environmental work. The corridor is made up of
Tamarindo
Beach (11km of Isla Real), Salinas Grandes (5km fishing village),
Juan
Venado
Island (22km of nature reserve) and the Town of
Las Penitas (northern entrance to Juan Venado). This project is supported by the
ECC(European Community), Marena (Nicarguan Environmental Agency), Juan Venado Nature Parque,
Tamarindo
Beach, and the Alcaldia of Leon.

In Nicaragua, you can enjoy canopying, kayaking, sun and beaches, sport fishing, surfing, sailing excursions, golf, nature walks, diving and volcano skiing. The activities are endless but one thing is for sure, there is never a dull moment once you step off the plane and arrive in Nicaragua.
Tamarindo Beach & Ocean Estates offers an incredible fishing experience. At both ends of our island, there are communities based solely on fishing. The fish include sailfish (conventional or fly tackle), mahi mahi, and near shore rooster fish(one of the most exciting game fish). Rooster fish are common on the ruggest shorelines 20 minutes south. You will find tuna, and snapper. The estuary in the back of the island is teaming with red snapper. We have shrimp bait(from the shrimp farms in Salines Grandes) and bait the line....two minutes is the maximum waiting time for a red snapper at Tamarindo Beach.
The offshore big game fishing is very good. Hunt and find sailfish, mahi mahi, wahoo, tuna, grouper and marlin in blue water. We look forward to organizing our charter service to complement the hotel activites. |

In phase two, the medical center will have certified staff to assist with your care, in the town centre. The fully built development version will feature a reception/check-in area, exam room, laboratory and equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, etc.
The closest existing hospital at this time is in Leon, less than a 30 minute drive away. Additionally, Leon hospital is to set to start construction in 2007. This 55,000 square foot facility is on the northern edge of Leon and has been financed by an American church group, Bethesda. This new hospital is both private and public, and will be staffed by US trained physicians. The construction budget is $18 million dollars.
